Tools That Help

Assuming you don’t already have a blog, there are a few tools you’ll need to get started.

First, you’ll need to choose a blogging platform. WordPress, Tumblr, and Medium are all popular choices.

Once you’ve selected a platform, you’ll need to choose a domain name and host.

Hosting is the service that actually stores your website’s files and makes them accessible to visitors.

After you’ve selected a domain name and host, you can set up your blog by following your platform’s instructions.

It’s usually pretty easy: for example, with WordPress you just enter your email address, create a password, and add in some basic information about yourself.

When starting out it can be helpful to use an existing template for the design of your site so that it matches other sites in your niche or industry.

Designing a new template from scratch is more time-consuming, but if you’re experienced with web design this may be the best option.
